** Adding the Allantoin to a liquid. and pre-dissolving it, will help to make it incorporate into the cream easier. If you choose to add the Allantoin directly to the cream it will take a considerable amount of high shear mixing. We recommend that you separate about 25% of the batch, add the Allantoin to it with aggressive mixing, and then add that back to the rest of the batch once the Allantoin is fully dissolved. Mixing Additional Ingredients into Bases: Tech Tip Library: *** Mixing Additional Ingredients into Bases ... When adding your additional ingredients there is no need for heavy mixing if you aren't challenging the emulsification and if you are challenging the emulsification the heavy mixing will only offer a temporary solution. For best results add your additional ingredients using a propeller or paddle attachment to mix it well, and in accordance with the base and ingredient instructions, and continue mixing only until the additional ingredients are incorporated:
- In all cases where you are modifying an existing emulsion, with a combination of additional ingredients, it is best to add your additional ingredients in one step (as a pre-combined solution) and then add that solution in small increments, mixing well between additions, to determine the threshold for the additional ingredients;
- In all cases it is best that both the base and the additional ingredient solution be as close to the same temperature, as possible, when combined;
- In all cases when you'll be adding a powder pre-dissolve the powder into a liquid, for best results
