PRODUCT CUSTOMIZATION
The Ingredients To Die For customization service offers our customers an inexpensive way to create a unique product or product line. This service allows you to select products from our stock bases and have us modify them by adding ingredients or combining bases. This service enables you to quickly create a unique product that is exclusive to your business. We can do almost any customization that you can imagine. Of course, in keeping with our basic product philosophy: pure and natural; safe and effective; and a pleasant experience for the customer. It's important to keep in mind that with a customization, just like all other bases, our primary goal will remain performance and it may not be possible to do the customization if your goals are anything other than optimal performance because we don't have that much room to make addition changes without impacting performance. Customization's are not guaranteed but we will make every effort to get you your perfect product. All customized products will remain exclusive to the creator and will never be offered through the regular catalog as long as the customized product is being ordered, at least once per year. After one year of inactivity a customized product will be deactivated or deleted. Once a customized product has been deactivated or deleted you will need to order the customization again to have that customized product re-evaluated and re-priced. Only after this review can it be determined whether or not the item will be made available again. There may be some customized products that will not be re-activated which will be determined on a case by case basis. All formulations remain the sole property of Ingredients To Die For.
To utilize this service all you need to do is test the product with your desired additions and then tell us exactly what to add. We will then price your customized product based on the cost of the stock product, the additional ingredients, and the labor involved to produce the customization. We will then load your customized product under your account* and you will be able to order them right from the website** and receive your product ready for packaging.*** The purchase sizes of all customized products will be based on a combination of the product price and the average retail size of the final product so, if it is an eye cream which is usually sold in small 1/2 to 1 ounce sizes then the smallest purchase size will most likely be 32 to 64 ounces however, if it is a shampoo or body lotion which is usually sold in larger 8 to 16 ounce sizes then the smallest purchase size will most likely be one to five gallons. This is not a firm policy and we will work with you to make sure that you can purchase your customized products at the sizes available and move the product while ensuring freshness and stability. Our primary goal will always be that your retail customer receives a product that is fresh and functional.
If you don't have the time or desire to do your own testing we can even do that for you. Just let us know, via email, what you would like to accomplish and after you have ordered your customization we will make a sample with your modifications and send you a sample so that you can test and approve it before you buy it. The cost will be based on: our current R&D (Research & Development) rate, which is the cost per hour reflected for this item; and the number of hours we anticipate for that R&D which will be based on the complexity of your modifications. When your modification is something simple like adding a preservative or some other single ingredient that does not challenge the stability or aesthetics of the product the cost will be one hour. If your modification is more complex and adds any form of challenge to the original base then the cost will be more.
Customizing our products to make them your own is simple:
- add the customization item to your cart
- check out as usual
- send us an email with your order number and tell us what you added OR
- send us an email telling us what you would like the product to accomplish and let us do the work
- watch for the email letting you know that it's done and available in your account
- place your order, get your product, fill and label your package and you're ready for the shelf
*The cost to load a customized product is one hour of R&D which must be paid in advance by adding this item to your cart and checking out as usual. Half of this fee will be credited by applying it to the cost of your first order of the customized product when you don't require a proofing sample. This credit is valid for 12 months, from project set up, and will not apply if any modifications from your original supplied modifications are required or if any testing is required.
**To order a customized product you must be logged in to your account and then you will click on 'product catalog' then 'cosmetic bases' then 'contract manufacturing exclusives' and then you will see your exclusive items available to order. You will then just check out as usual.
***There is a standard two week lead time for all customized products because we make these products only as they are ordered. We urge you to manage your inventory aggressively however, if your need is urgent you can expedite the processing of your custom order. The cost will be determined on a case by case basis, at the time of the order, and will depend on what staff / schedule changes need to happen for us to be able to accommodate your needs. We can usually turn any order around within 24 hours if necessary.
